    WHAT'S UP

    • Robo Roundup Review:  Our recent 2024 Energy Drone and Robotics Summit brought together stakeholders, end users, and vendors to discuss and showcase their solutions, as well as to provide a snapshot of the industryโ€™s adoption of the technology. Commercial UAV News recently shared a few impressions and takeaways from the event that may define the space in the years ahead.
    • Tech Tide Turn: Bureau Veritas, Terradepth and Sulmara are among a number of offshore survey companies that are increasingly using autonomous or remotely operated robotics, cloud systems and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver projects faster, cheaper and in a more environmentally friendly way.
    • Twin Tech Triumph: SyncTwin GmbH is making strides in the industrial sector with its innovative application that integrates OpenUSD and generative AI to enhance manufacturing efficiency and sustainability, according to the NVIDIA Blog. SyncTwin developed a digital twin app leveraging NVIDIA's cuOpt, an optimization engine for complex routing problems, and the NVIDIA Omniverse platform.

    WHAT'S NEXT

    • MIT research scientist Jerry Pratt announced the founding of another entry in the increasingly crowded world of humanoids. Persona AI is presently as early stage as early stage gets, having been officially founded only last month. The startup is the brainchild of Pratt and longtime associate Nic Radford.
    • Trimble recently announced the release of a new asset lifecycle management software suite, to be known as Trimble Unity. The suite brings together five capabilities and, in Trimbles words, โ€œenables owners of capital projects and public infrastructure to efficiently plan, design, build, operate, and maintain their assets using centralized data and connected digital workflows.โ€

Like it or not, soon our world is going to be filled with robots that walk among us, not as clunky machines of sci-fi films, but with the grace and agility of humans.

Take Tiangong, for example, a full-size humanoid robot capable of running on electric power, which was recently unveiled by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.

Standing as tall as an average human and powered by a symphony of sensors and processors, Tiangong has the ability to jog at a steady pace, navigate complex terrain and perform tasks with precision. Tiangong represents a future where robots could possibly become our companions, helpers and perhaps even our friends.

This full-size humanoid robot, standing at 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 95 pounds, is capable of running on electric power at a steady pace of about 3.7 mph. Read more! --> (h/t FoxNews)
